Pressure on to open border death records

From U-T San Diego:  SAN DIEGO — The American Civil Liberties Union and local news organizations, including U-T San Diego, asked a federal judge Tuesday to reject a request to seal documents in a wrongful-death suit that alleges an unauthorized immigrant died after being beaten and shot with a Taser by Border Patrol agents.

DC Appeals Court rejects CIA’s secrecy claims in ACLU’s targeted killing FOIA lawsuit

WASHINGTON – A federal appeals court ruled today that the Central Intelligence Agency cannot deny its “intelligence interest” in the targeted killing program and refuse to respond to Freedom of Information Act requests about the program while officials continue to make public statements about it.

ACLU of W.Va files public records requests for info on police use of military weapons, tactics

CHARLESTON, West Virginia — West Virginia’s affiliate of the ACLU is participating in a project examining local police use of military technology and tactics.

The American Civil Liberties Union of West Virginia Foundation and 23 other ACLU affiliates across the country have filed public records requests with law enforcement and military agencies.
