A Verified Complaint for Injunctive and Declaratory Relief naming the Clark County Park District as Defendant was filed in Clark County Circuit Court on 02/18/2015.

This stems from the February 17, 2015 meeting where the Board approved “Lease Rates” and “Amended Covenants” but kept the contents of those documents secret from the public.

Md. Local Governments Lax In Learning About Open Meetings

State officials say more than 60 percent of Maryland local governments haven’t complied with a 2013 state law requiring training in the state’s Open Meetings Act.

The Carroll County Times reported Sunday that that the Open Meetings Compliance Board sees lots of room for improvement. Chairwoman Monica Johnson says local officials must be educated about the law.

Federal court judge rules against ports in suit over open meetings

Even as an Olympia open meetings advocate posted a win in federal court, the ports of Tacoma and Seattle once again will meet behind closed doors Wednesday (Dec. 3) to discuss their proposed operating alliance.

U.S. District Judge James L. Robart ruled late last week that federal court was the wrong forum in which to decide whether the two port commissions violated the state’s Open Meetings Act. At issue are a series of private meetings the two port commissions held jointly to discuss a possible alliance.

Area lawmakers tentatively support Open Meetings update

Lansing-area lawmakers are open to modernizing the state's nearly four-decades-old Open Meetings Act, provided it doesn't put too much burden on governments.

Earlier this month, the Michigan Law Revision Commission recommended the Legislature update state law to require a public body that "directly or indirectly maintains an official Internet presence" to put more information such as meeting notices, minutes and "records that are the subjects of agenda items" online.
