I hate to keep harping on this subject.
Actually, I don’t. The longer I work at the newspaper and the more meetings I go to and information I request, I am becoming a believer that transparency in local government can be improved.
Hence, Sunshine Week, a creation of the American Society of News Editors focusing on the importance of open meetings and public records laws across the country.
We at the Daily Sun celebrated Sunshine Week by submitted several public records requests to local government bodies to see: 1) How they handled the request, and 2) if the requested information turned up anything of interest.
