New York coalition insists on more transparency regarding Buffalo Bills football stadium plans

The New York Coalition For Open Government is demanding more transparency about negotiations to build a new stadium for the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League.

The New York coalition is urging Gov. Kathy Hochul to release a study regarding the need and cost of a new stadium, and to provide opportunities for public input. The coalition also has challenged county officials to release any studies related to the stadium development.

The efforts have had an impact, according to Paul Wolf, president of the New York Coalition For Open Government, a member of the National Freedom of Information Coalition.

The Erie County Legislature unanimously passed a resolution calling for more transparency regarding stadium negotiations.

“I’m glad to see there’s unanimous support for transparency and releasing any studies to the public,” Wolf told The Buffalo News.

In a letter to the New York coalition’s supporters, Wolf said the county resolution was important, especially because it was unanimous and bipartisan.
