Nebraska calculates the cost of public records

From Watchdog.org:

Fifteen cents a page, a buck a page?

What’s a fair asking price for state records?

Well know this: Nebraska Watchdog reported in June that agencies are increasingly charging hundreds, even thousands, of dollars in fees for public records.

So how much do government entities in Nebraska charge folks who want photocopies of public records?

That depends.

The Nebraska Accountability and Disclosure Commission charges 15 cents a page. The state Department of Education? Ten cents a page. The city of Lincoln gets 25 cents a page, though many small requests are fulfilled for free. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln? A buck a page, plus an undisclosed secretarial fee.
