coalition map(02/12/2020) The Pennsylvania Freedom of Information Coalition and the Nevada Coalition for Open Government become NFOIC’s newest state FOI alliances. Now, 37 states and the District of Columbia make up the National Freedom of Information Coalition, whose mission is to make sure state and local governments and public institutions have laws, policies and procedures to facilitate the public’s access to their records and proceedings.

State FOI coalitions monitor activity statewide to ensure that residents have full access to government records and proceedings. They serve as a “go-to” group in public disputes and provide training and education services to the public and to public officials on state open government laws and procedures. They also serve as a media resource for their local news organizations and journalists.

The point of contact for PaFOIC is Susan Schwartz for Pennsylvania (susan.schwartz@pressenterprise.net), and for NvCOG, Patrick File (pfile@unr.edu).

Welcome to NFOIC!
