Slow pace of crash probe involving off-duty police officer is criticized

WORCESTER, MA —  A Shirley woman who was critically injured when her car collided with a car driven by an off-duty Worcester police officer more than a year ago is criticizing authorities for what she says is the inexplicably slow pace of the accident investigation.

The Essex DA’s office has not complied with requests from the Telegram & Gazette for police reports on the accident, information from the vehicles’ onboard computers, or “black boxes,” and other materials relating to the crash — citing the investigatory exemption of the state public records law.
