Requests for public records on teacher facing abuse charge denied by city, state

FITCHBURG — Public records requests seeking information on accusations of abuse made against a Reingold Elementary School teacher were denied by the Fitchburg School District and the state Department of Children and Families.

According to separate letters dated July 7, DCF found that allegations of physical abuse against special education teacher Lori Nogueira regarding two different students were “supported,” according to documents provided by parents to Fox 25 News.

Both the state agency and school district denied requests made by the Sentinel & Enterprise earlier this month for “any records pertaining to accusations of abuse regarding teacher Lori Nogueira.”

In a response sent Thursday, district administrator of Human Resources Rick Zeena wrote the situation was a personnel matter and records could reveal the identity of the student. Read more…
