Mass. attorney general seeks to clarify Open Meeting Law

The attorney general’s office has been in charge of enforcing the law since 2010. Boards that run afoul of the Open Meeting Law are subject to a fine of up to $1,000.

But, Pam Wilmot, executive director of the open-government watchdog Common Cause Massachusetts, said the word “intentional,” which was already in the law, may prove too high a threshold, resulting in few punishments for Open Meeting Law offenders.
