Cuccinelli’s transparency stance is a double standard, some say

From Watchdog.org:  ALEXANDRIA — When Mike Signer read the small-print footnote on the response to his Freedom of Information Act request from Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli’s office recently, he was astonished.

The office of the state’s top legal official — an official who has claimed a “commitment to transparency and accountability” — said the office responds to FOIA requests only as a “courtesy.” A 2011 Virginia Supreme Court case, it said, implies the attorney general’s office is not subject to the state’s public records laws.
