Sen. Will Longwitz expedited a popular gun bill that has closed concealed-carry permit records in what he said was an effort to aid the Department of Public Safety in denying two pending public records requests.
The Mississippi House on Thursday sent the governor the bill to block public access to information about state-issued permits for people to carry concealed weapons. Gov. Phil Bryant signed the bill into law on Monday and it was effective immediately.
