From The Tennessean:

A law that would have changed Tennessee’s open meetings law to allow elected officials to meet in secret is dead for the year, according to Tennessee House Speaker Beth Harwell’s office.

Harwell joined Gov. Bill Haslam and two other key state lawmakers in opposing the legislation, which would have allowed elected bodies to meet without public notice so long as they were just short of a quorum. It was widely opposed by the Tennesee Press Association and the Tennessee Coalition for Open Government.
