The attorney general’s office has been in charge of enforcing the law since 2010. Boards that run afoul of the Open Meeting Law are subject to a fine of up to $1,000.

But, Pam Wilmot, executive director of the open-government watchdog Common Cause Massachusetts, said the word “intentional,” which was already in the law, may prove too high a threshold, resulting in few punishments for Open Meeting Law offenders.
