help support the work of the National Freedom of Information Coalition,
an assemblage of state and regional FOI organizations, academic and
First Amendment centers, and associate members drawn by a common
purpose: to ensure the public's right to oversee its government through
the use of public access laws.
NFOIC offers full members:
- possible funding opportunities through Knight Foundation Grants to assist with projects furthering public access to government records and meetings.
- help for start-up FOI organizations.
- developing FOI programs, projects and publications that can be utilized by the member FOI organizations.
- networking
opportunities at annual conferences and, more frequently, through
listserv discussions of state FOI laws and issues, and
- topical educational resources through the free electronic newsletter, The FOI ADVOCATE,
and through white papers tracking legislative and legal trends, the FOI
Reports, to which was recently added a survey by the Better Government
Association and NFOIC that tracked states' responsiveness to FOI requests.
So please, take a few moments and join NFOIC in our continuing battle to ensure an open government.
